Built to be used by everyone.

Our standards, what we've done, and how to tell us when something breaks.

Last reviewed June 11, 2026
Our commitment. The Helm HQ believes the web should work for everyone. We design and maintain thehelmhq.com to be usable by people of all abilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, magnification, or other assistive technologies. This statement explains the standard we follow, what we have done, and how to reach us if something doesn't work for you.

1. The standard we follow

This website is designed and maintained to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice in guidance under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act and by many state and international accessibility laws.

WCAG is built around four principles: content must be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. We have taken concrete steps to meet each one.

2. Measures we have taken

The following have been implemented across every page of the website:

  • Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element on the site is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone. A visible focus ring shows where you are.
  • Skip-to-content link. Pressing Tab on a fresh page reveals a "Skip to main content" link, letting keyboard and screen-reader users jump past the navigation.
  • Semantic structure. Pages use proper HTML landmarks (<nav>, <main>, <footer>) with descriptive labels, so screen readers can announce and jump between regions.
  • Heading hierarchy. Every page starts with a single <h1> and uses heading levels in order, so the document outline is readable by assistive tech.
  • Alternative text. Meaningful images have descriptive alt attributes. Decorative graphics (such as the logo, which already has a visible text label) are marked as decorative so screen readers don't read them twice.
  • Color contrast. Text colors meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) against their backgrounds.
  • Responsive design. The site reflows for small screens, large displays, and zoom levels up to 200% without loss of content or function.
  • Language declaration. The <html lang="en"> attribute is set so screen readers use the correct pronunciation.
  • Reduced-motion support. All animations are disabled automatically for visitors whose operating system requests reduced motion.
  • FAQ uses native HTML. Collapsible questions use the standard <details> element, which is keyboard-accessible and screen-reader-friendly out of the box, without any custom JavaScript.
  • External links. Links that open in new tabs are clearly distinguishable and include security attributes that prevent the new tab from gaining unintended access.

3. Known limitations

Despite our efforts, accessibility is an ongoing process and there are areas where we know improvement is possible. We are aware of the following:

  • Third-party booking (Calendly). When you click "Book a Call," you are taken to Calendly's scheduling page, which is outside our direct control. Calendly publishes its own accessibility commitments. If you have trouble booking through Calendly, please email us at welcome@thehelmhq.com and we will schedule by email instead.
  • Animations. The site uses subtle scroll-triggered fade-ins on most sections. These animations honor the operating system's reduced-motion setting and are disabled when that setting is on.
  • Continuous improvement. The web is a moving target. Browser updates, new assistive technologies, and our own additions to the site can introduce new issues. We re-audit the site at least annually and after any significant content or design change.

4. Assistive technologies we have tested with

This website has been designed to work with current versions of the following:

  • Screen readers: VoiceOver (macOS, iOS), NVDA (Windows), and the latest TalkBack (Android)
  • Browsers: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge, on both desktop and mobile
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser-level zoom up to 200%
  • Operating-system "reduce motion" settings

If you use an assistive technology not on this list and find the site doesn't work well for you, please tell us. We can often fix the issue quickly once we know it exists.

5. Third-party content

Parts of the website rely on third-party services that we do not directly control. These include:

  • Calendly for scheduling introductory calls.
  • Google Fonts for the typography you see on the site.
  • LinkedIn for the link to our company profile.

If a third-party element is creating an accessibility barrier for you, please reach out using the contact information below. We will work to provide an accessible alternative.

6. How to report an issue

If you encounter content on this website that is not accessible to you, or you have suggestions for how to improve accessibility, please contact us. We want to know.

The Helm HQ
Attn: Accessibility
Email: welcome@thehelmhq.com

When you contact us, it helps to know the following, but none of it is required:

  • The page you were trying to use (a link or URL is ideal)
  • The assistive technology or browser you were using
  • A short description of what went wrong

We will respond to accessibility reports within three business days and will work with you to provide the information or service you need by an alternative means while any underlying fix is being made.

7. Ongoing review

We test the site against WCAG 2.1 Level AA using a combination of automated tooling (including Lighthouse and the WAVE accessibility evaluation tool from WebAIM) and manual review (keyboard navigation, screen-reader spot-checks, and visual contrast verification). This statement is reviewed at least once a year and after any significant change to the site.
